The Sacred Door and Other Stories:
Cameroon Folktales of the Beba written by Makuchi
is a collection of 33 folktales immersed with riddles, proverbs,
songs, myths, and legends that capture the oral traditions of
the Beba people in Cameroon.
Makuchi retells the stories her mother
told her, so that readers can make connections between African
and North American oral narrative traditions. These tales
strengthen the generalities of the human experiences without
dismisses our differences.
