Care Meeting: August 24, 2004, 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

 

Present:  Alitia C. Barwick, Sharon Blackwell Garnett, Jamey Caudell, Lou E. Daye, Relisa Farmer, Keyana Graves, Sheri Narin, Kathy Oakley, Melanie Regan, Audrey Simpson, Chrislin Solomon, Lisa Thorpe, Charlene Wilson

 

The meeting started with a description of CARE and potential activities for this year.  Discussions included the need for new officers for this year.  Officers are needed for the following positions –

 

The requirements for the co-presidents include at least one year as a student in the human services program. The requirement for other positions is being a current human services student.  Anyone at the college can belong to the organization, but only current human services students can be officers in the organization.

Nominations will be taken until Wednesday, September 1, 2004.  Please contact Sheri Narin or Kathy Oakley to nominate yourself or someone else.

 

We have two immediate upcoming events, for which we need volunteers.  Club day is September 8, 2004, and we have the following volunteers:

 

Charlene Wilson 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Lisa Thorpe 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

 

The hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

 

We will be manning a table at Personality and need volunteers to run activities, from approximately 9:30 a.m. (set-up) to 2:30 pm. or so.

 

 

 

We have the following volunteers:

 

Audrey Simpson – not sure of time

Alitia Barwick – 10 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (time needs to be confirmed)

Melanie Regan – not sure of time

Keyana Graves – 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Jamey Caudell – 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (time needs to be confirmed)

Lou E. Daye – 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Sharon Garnett - whenever

 

The upcoming conference was also discussed and the topic of burnout was suggested.  The conference will be in Portsmouth, Virginia, from March 30, 2005 to April 2, 2005.

 

The next meeting will be announced when the new officers are elected.  Charlene Wilson, as one of the outgoing co-presidents, will help advice the new officers. After the nominations are closed on September 1, 2004, elections will be help until noon on September 8, 2004.  The voting will be by ballots in class and via email.
