Identify the various ways in which you can benefit from technology. Give specific examples.

1.         You work as a case manager in a local women’s shelter. Adrienne has been in an abusive relationship for 3 years and has decided to leave. She arrives at the shelter with no clothes, money, or personal belongings. Her 2 children have missed two weeks of school (Adrienne has been hiding for 2 weeks).

2.         You are a middle school guidance counselor. Several students have reported that Camille, a fellow student, has threatened to bring a pipe bomb to school. They tell you that she also has a web page on which she describes her plans and her desire to “end it all”.

3.         You work in a day care. You teach the 2 year olds. A new student has enrolled and you learn that this child is HIV positive. The child’s mother is desperate for child care.

4.         You are a single parent. You are very successful at a local advertising firm, but you work very long hours. You have noticed that your teenage son’s behavior has changed. He has shaved his head; he seems obsessed with Hitler; he becomes very angry when you enter his bedroom without permission.

5.   You are 14 years old. You live in a middle class neighborhood. No one knows about the constant fighting that goes on between your parents. It is getting worse. Your parents don’t seem to care about what the fighting is doing to you. You want to run away. You want things to be normal again. You feel like you are going crazy. Your boy/girlfriend seems to be the only one who understands. The two of you are getting very close.
