This course covers the purpose, structure, focus, and techniques employed in effective interviewing. Emphasis is placed on observing, attending, listening, responding, recording, and summarizing of personal histories with instructor supervision. Upon completion, students should be able to perform the basic interviewing skills needed to function in the helping relationship.

2) Thursday, January 17, 2008  Class started at 10:00 due to weather. Review and discuss Chapter One. Read chapter two.
3) Tuesday, January 22, 2008 Review practice interviews. Reread chapter two Rosie interview and reviewed chapter two, including differences between problem solving and solution building.  Drew SOLER. Watched 3 segments of Peter's interview with Tim.  Practiced intro.  
4) Thursday, January 24, 2008 Chapter two work sheet.  Watched Tim and Peter.  Role plays and observation of instructor interview.  
5) Tuesday, January 29, 2008 Open-ended questions practice.  Practice with indirect compliments.  Review of some of chapter three concepts  
6) Thursday, January 31, 2008 Practice on reflection.  Further practice with compliments.  General review of chapter three concepts.  Individual practice. Don't forget videotapes for the next class.
