Structure of grades:
The overall grant grade will be the average of the grades given by the reviewers and classmates.
The written proposal is worth 300 points. 250 points will be from the evaluation of the grant by the committee members and the grades given will be averaged into one grade. The remaining 50 points will be the average of the grades given by your fellow classmates. These will be collected before the grant presentations begin.
The oral presentation and question/answer period will be worth 220 points. 200 points will be from the evaluation of the grant by the committee members and the grades given will be averaged into one grade. The remaining 20 points will be the average of the grades given by your fellow classmates, on a worksheet completed after your presentation.
I am in the process of revising the grade sheets and will try to have a copy for you next week, but important points to consider include:
· Is the information organized in a way that makes it easy to find pertinent items? (Hint: Don’t forget page numbers and make sure references to pages are correct, including in appendices.)
· Does the information follow the provided format? (All reviewers will have a copy of the format).
· Is the grant grammatically correct? Is the spelling correct?
· Are the points made with enough detail and yet presented succinctly?
· Are the needs of the community clearly expressed?
· Does the program seem feasible?
· Do the numbers add up? (Hint: At least one of these reviewers will double check your math).
· There will be questions about individual sections as well.
The only individual grade in this entire project comes from your evaluation of the other group’s work. Thus your evaluation of the other group’s grant and oral presentation is expected to be thorough. Please note that being thorough does not mean you have to have numerous criticisms; it means that you carefully review the sections and honestly provide feedback.
The entire grant project is worth 720 points (excluding the 50 points for your evaluation o the other groups work). The breakdown is as follows:
Grant project work: 200 points
Grant Project: 250 points
Student evaluation of grant project: 50 points
Grant Oral Presentation: 200 points
Student evaluation of grant presentation: 20 points
