I am April O'Brien
Duckworth, 32 years old. I am a single parent, with a son, Grant Taylor and a
daughter, Destiny' Lyann. I received my AAS degree in Human Services Technology
from Piedmont Community College in 1995. My experience at PCC was one of
education, self-assessment and growth. The instructors in the Human Services
program are hands-on. They realize your potential before you do, and encourage
you to strive toward your goals. The curriculum is structured to give you a vast
array of knowledge and experience to prepare you for any type of Human Services
employment. Due to my education and experience gained at PCC, I am employed with
Family Connections - an Intensive Family Preservation Program of Person County
Cooperative Extension Services. I apply the knowledge of the Human Services
field every day that I work with the families of Person County. Currently, I am
a Senior at Shaw University in Raleigh, where I am obtaining my BASW and
graduating in May 2004. Thanks to PCC, I have been encouraged to continue my
education as an adult and continue to improve myself for as long as I can.

April and Carla Johnson get their bachelor's degree from Shaw University on May 8th, 2004!
