This course covers the purpose, structure, focus, and techniques employed in effective interviewing. Emphasis is placed on observing, attending, listening, responding, recording, and summarizing of personal histories with instructor supervision. Upon completion, students should be able to perform the basic interviewing skills needed to function in the helping relationship.

Sept. 13, 2004 Videotaping and evaluation by other students; Review of portfolios. 1) Due Mon. 9/20/2004: Review your videotape.  Write a paper with three things you did well, three areas in which you would like to improve, and choose three statements that you made in the video, write them down, and write down possible alternative statements.
