• Provide information about how your internship is going. Discuss aspects that you like and dislike; any concerns that you have, and general observations.

Week Seven:

1)  Review the information in the following sections: "Working with Other Organizations" (p.202); "Organizational Limitations" (p. 203-206); "Coping Strategies" (p. 208-209)

2)  Answer the following discussion board question(s) following the established schedule.

• With what other organizations do you work in your internship?  How do you maintain positive relationships with those organizations?
• What elements of your organization indicate a closed system?  What elements indicate an open system?  How can you navigate both these system types in your agency?
• What coping strategies do you primarily use in your internship?  Describe how you use them, and discuss their effectiveness. 

3)  Your internship description is due by 5:00 p.m. Wednesday

Week Eight:

1)  Read chapter eight

2)  Answer the following discussion board question(s) following the established schedule.

• Chapter Eight discusses professional relationships in the community. How are you building relationships in the community in order to better serve your clients? What ways can you build further relationships? Answer the questions on the discussion board and return to respond to other student's responses according to the regular schedule.

Week Nine:

1)  Answer the following discussion board question(s) following the established schedule.

• Write some information about what skills you have had to use so far in your internship placement. Were there particular classes that you feel helped to prepare you. What additional skills training could you see being helpful to include in classes? Original posts and responses due by dates listed on the discussion board forum.

2) Due Wednesday at 5:00 p.m., Homework # 2 Due: Page 231, concluding exercises #1, #2, #3.

Week Thirteen:

1)  Answer the following discussion board question(s) following the established schedule.

• From page 242 of the textbook, Read the following scenario, and answer the questions after it:  You were hired by a large human service organization whose funding was strong.  Within several years, however, budget cuts began to loom over the agency.  As the last one hired, you would be the first one to go.  You really enjoyed you work and the contact with colleagues, but you became demoralized at the constant threat of layoffs.  No one could give you any clear idea about the future of your job.  You begin to look for other opportunities and finally left this position due to the uncertainty of your future. Answer the following questions on the discussion board:  How would you feel if this were to happen to you?  Would you leave? Or would you stay and weather the storm?  What factors would influence your decision?  You should post your answers by Monday at 8:00 p.m. and provide feedback for your classmates answers by Thursday at 8:00 p.m.

You should post your answers by Monday at 8:00 p.m. and provide feedback for your classmates answers by Thursday at 8:00 p.m.

• What do you need to do to terminate with your clients?  How are you feeling about this process?  What is important about how you handle the process of termination with both clients and coworkers?
