This course introduces community resources essential to social work practice. Emphasis is placed on awareness of and interaction with community service personnel. Upon completion, students should be able to identify resources and assess critical community needs. This course is a unique concentration requirement of the Social Service concentration in the Human Services Technology program. Prerequisites: SWK 110.

Discussion of syllabus and class projects. 3.  Discussion of meaning of conflict (ex. 2 p. 28).  4. Cat/dog debate (ex. 5 & 6 p. 29) 1. Read chapter one in Conflict resolution for the helping professions and the Grant Writing Help Book and then complete exercises 3,4,and 7, pages 28-29,  in Conflict resolution for the helping professions (Due in class on January 23, 2006). 2. Take quiz on the Grant Writing Help Book.

Evaluation: Briefly describe your plan for evaluating the success of the project or for your organization’s work. What questions will be addressed? Who will be involved in evaluating this work—staff, board, constituents, community, consultants? How will the evaluation results be used?
