February 3, 2009:
I have been informed that the Adult Basic Skills program is also in need of volunteers for evening hours as well as mornings. The rest of the information remains as follows. Please contact Patti Clayton if you are interested. Thanks!
The Adult Basic Skills Program at Piedmont Community College is seeking volunteers. Assistance is needed to greet prospective students who are interested in enrolling in the General Educational Development Credential (GED) Program as well as to answer questions and phone calls. Volunteers are needed Monday - Friday mornings for approximately three hour increments. The commitment would be for one semester. There will be training sessions held to orient volunteers. The program will begin on March 1, 2009.
As a PCC Alumni Partner, this activity will allow you to accumulate points towards the “Piedmont Community College Alumni Partnership Service Award”. Alumni Partners are given the opportunity to participate in various activities throughout the year. Each of the activities has been assigned points. Alumni accumulate points as they volunteer and participate in various activities. The deadline for accumulating points is December 10th each year. Points are then tallied and the alumnus with the most points is given the “Piedmont Community College Alumni Partnership Service Award” for the current year. The winner has a choice of a $250.00 scholarship to be used at PCC or $200.00 in cash. The scholarship may be used for curriculum or continuing education courses and may be transferred to another person.
If you have questions about this Adult Basic Skills activity, please contact Adelaide Beeker at the College; 336-599-1181,ext 252 or beekerl@piedmontcc.edu.
If you should decide to volunteer in this effort, please contact me to ensure that you get credit for this activity.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Patti Clayton, Alumni Relations Coordinator, PCC, Financial Coordinator, PCC Foundation, Piedmont Community College, 336-599-1181, ext. 207
