The Hyco Review,
an online arts and literary magazine
is published by Piedmont Community College and showcases the works of artists
and writers from Person and Caswell counties, North Carolina, as well as of
alumni from the College. We publish annually and welcome quality
submissions in any of the formats listed on our submission page.

Submission Guidelines
The Hyco Review Arts Magazine
The Hyco Review Arts Magazine is an annual online
arts and literary magazine published by Piedmont Community College. Designed
to nurture area writers, artists, photographers and musicians, it will
feature photographs, art, poetry, fiction, essays, music, audio, film and
video and digital media. The inaugural Hyco Review debuted in
2009. We publish annually during the
summer months, so our reading period is the spring prior.
General Guidelines:
- All artists must be residents
(or former residents) of Person or Caswell counties, North Carolina, or
be Piedmont Community College students or alumni.
- Artists may submit up to five
poems or a single piece of prose; three minutes of a video or audio
work; up to three photographs, photos of works of art, or digital
art. All work must be artist’s original design.
- Deadline for submissions for
Volume III is January 15, 2011.
Poetry: One
poem per page, single-spaced. Submissions may be e-mailed, mailed or
submitted on CD. Author’s name and contact information should be
included on each submission. Submissions should be sent in MSWord
format, Times New Roman font, 12 point.
Prose: Short stories, “short shorts,” flash fiction, and
creative non-fiction are welcome. Each page should be
double-spaced. Manuscript should not exceed 4,000 words.
Submissions may be e-mailed, mailed, or submitted on CD. Author’s name
and contact information should be included on each submission.
Submissions should be sent in MSWord format, Times New Roman font, 12 point.
Photographs: Black and white, color or digital artwork
accepted. DO NOT SEND original photographs or works of art.

CD of original work or a link to an online image.
Film/Video: Three minutes or less. Submit DVD,
appropriately labeled with name of filmmaker or videographer, as well as
date, and contact information.
Music/Audio: Three minutes or less. Submit CD,
appropriately labeled with name of musician, songwriter and/or voice artist,
as well as date, and contact information.
