Authors' Information

Dai Sijie born on March 02, 1954 in Chengdu, Sichuan, China. Sijie comes from an educated middle-class family, and the Maoist government sent him to a reeducation camp in rural Sichuan from 1971 to 1974, during the Cultural Revolution. After his return, he was able to complete high school and university, where he studied art history.

In 1984, he left China for France on a scholarship. There, he became a director. Before turning to writing, he made three critically-acclaimed feature-length films: China, My Sorrow (1989) (original title: Chine, ma douleur), Le mangeur de lune and Tang, le onzi่me.

Hill Harper born on May 17, 1966 in Iowa City, Iowa, United States. Hill Harper, born Frank Harper, is not a typical actor. He graduated magna cum laude from Brown University, earned a law degree from Harvard University, and then received a master's degree from the Kennedy School of Government. Harper, who has appeared in numerous films and television shows, is best known by the general public for his role as Dr. Sheldon Hawkes on the television series CSI: NY. Harper has written Letters to a Young Brother and Letters to a Young Sister.
